Sixth form seek career opportunities in the medical field
Our sixth form students have written the following as a result of their recent visit to the GMC:
Our school recently had the opportunity to go to the HQ of the General Medical Council in Manchester. The trip gave our Y12 and Y13 students a valuable insight into the medical field and supporting roles within it.
We were exposed to different environments that educated us about the world of medicine, while also participating in interactive workshops and so had the chance to learn about the procedures in ensuring the highest standards of healthcare. It also informed us about the process of becoming a doctor and being added to the official doctor register, as well as having careers in data management, IT, and law.
We participated in a tour around the building where we had a glimpse into how medical licences work and are issued, and how unprofessional medical practices are investigated. It was an enticing and exciting experience for all the students involved, who are interested in pursuing a career in the world of medicine.
