Year 9 Group Notices

Welcome to Year 9

The theme for Year 9 this year is 'Steps to success – Dare to Dream.'

The Year 9 theme uses the visual imagery of ‘The Wizard Oz’. The girls have been encouraged to take the correct steps in their educational and spiritual journey using the six FCJ values of Companionship, Dignity, Excellence, Justice, G'.tleness and Hope. We will encourage them to be the best person they can be and to be ambitious as they approach their GCSE courses next year.

Psalm 37:23, “The steps of a good person are ordered by the Lord.” We're grateful that God is directing our steps, but the truth is that God is ordering our steps.

Notice Board

Year 9 notice board can be found on the ground floor of Bellerive building, above the water machine, next to St Patricks door. We also have a glass cabinet displaying important messages as you go up to the first floor of Bellerive building.

Weekly Routines

We have a daily Form time Power Point show which is updated daily with messages, positive information and specific Year 9 updates. Each focus area is displayed on our daily shared resource and is shown in Forms every day. Daily focus areas are listed below. We also have weekly blitzes which are sourced from data on Class Charts from the previous week so we can highlight what the pupils are doing well and what they need to improve. We have a half termly FCJ focus area – our focus for Half term 1 is ‘Companionship’.

Year 9 Pathways

Spring term is a very important term for all Yr 9 students as they begin their journey in selecting the subjects that they will go to study in Yr 10 & 11 for GCSE’s. The whole process is called ‘Pathways’. During their PSHE lessons the pupils will start to understand what choices they have and what each subject may entail. The group will also have the opportunity to attend a ‘Women in Business’ workshop, whereby they can ask questions of successful female role models who have a background in some non-traditional female sectors.
